The center-back spent last season on loan at Fortuna Dusseldolf in Germany, with which they suffered relegation to Bundesliga II.
Injuries limited his game time with the German club and he will be hoping for an injury free campaign this time round.
The Ghanaian international still managed to score 2 goals in 15 appearances for Fortuna Düsseldorf in all competitions.
It is still uncertain whether his future will be at Hoffenheim, as he might probably go out on loan again.
