Man United is unlikely to change its owner since the lucrative ‘business’ is only potentially for sale and the potential implies a big price.

According to Laurie Whitwell from the Athletic, the current owners, the Glazer family, would only sell for a ‘huge amount’. This means a bid of £4bn or more. For the record, Man United’s current worth is put at about £3m by Forbes.

The only viable option at the moment to oust the Glazers seems the wealth from Saudi Arabia. Recurring rumours are fulled by meetings between the club’s and the country’s highest officials.

The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman is the most talked-about name. Then again, those close to him publicly denied the interest at some point.

If MbS woke up feeling like he does want to buy Man United out, it would take him more than half of his personal fortune.
