While Coach of Northern Ladies, Sumani Bashirudeen has not been afraid to admit it may be a while yet before his side are competing at Women’s football’s top level again, an early piece of silverware would be a valuable piece of good news as he prepares the team ahead of the 17th kick off of the National Women’s League.

The Women’s Unity Cup certainly helped to provide a springboard to better things for him in previous years, when he was in the midst of another rebuild, and coach Bash will hope it can offer a similar catalyst after watching his side see off division one side KYA Ladies with a thumping 6-0 victory.

Another hat- trick from top scorer Alhassan Rafiatu, two gaols from Jafaru Rahama, and a further one goal from Fredica ensured his side reached their second finals in a row.

But they will have to dig deep to pick the Ultimate on Wednesday evening after being handed the final draw they would probably have preferred to avoid.

A final shoe down with Super Ladies may not hold quite the same fear after beating Bagabaga Ladies in the group stages.
