After 8 years of absence from the premier league, Real Tamale United are back to the top flight of Ghana football after beating Unity FC 2-0 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
It was a two-horse race in the Division One League Zone 1 between Real Tamale United and Bofoakwa Tano but in the end RTU pipped Bofoakwa Tano FC to the only ticket to the Ghana Premier League.
In a good show of sportsmanship, Bofoakwa Tano FC have sent a short but heartwarming congratulatory message to the Pride of the North via their official Facebook page:
RTU’s demotion in 2013 was a mixture of financial crisis and managerial inefficiencies which affected results.
Before the final day of that season, the Pride of the North had failed to record a win in 29 games.
They had conceded as many as 71 goals and scored just 19 times – an average of 0.65 per game.
