The head coach for Real Tamale United, Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko has called on the fans of the club to continue supporting the team as they prepare for the start of the upcoming football season.

The Pride of the North are hoping to break a seven-year-long jinx of no Ghana Premier League football in the upcoming football season.

Speaking to supporters after Wednesday’s training session, the Technical Director for the University for Development Studies UDS, rallied for the support of the fans.

“We appreciate your support since we started training and we encourage you to continue that way, the technical team needs comfort to work and the fans can play a role in that” coach Tanko said.

The former Hearts of Oak, Medeama SC and Inter Allies gaffer however questioned supporters to respect their leaders when they have grievances. He said RTU will not make it if some fans decide to take matters into their own hands without passing through the appropriate channel.

“no one here wants to see RTU go down, we spend our own money on players even as coaches to make sure we put the club back to where it belongs to, so no supporter should think that we are here just because we want to be here” coach Tanko continued.

Last season, Real Tamale United had a difficult stint in the Division One League and occupied the 13th position at the time the campaign was being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The team however hopes to enjoy a better campaign in the upcoming season.
