Women Football – Rwanda face DR Congo in warm up game

Rwanda senior women team ‘She-Amavubi’ will play three build-up match against counterparts DR Congo in an international friendly match which will be staged on Tuesday at Umuganda Stadium.

The game intends to continue their preparations to help the women national team to be in a competitive aspect ahead of future CAF and CECAFA competitions.

“We want to help girls for competitive games because they need more games and also DR Congo have good team which would provide us with good knowledge on how our team is faring,” head coach told Sostene Habimana.

The women side has been in preparations since last week under the tutelage of head coach Habimana and is primed to register a win over their neighbours.

“The purpose of the match is to prepare our team for future competitions. I have summoned a team that comprises youngsters and experienced players, and I believe they will make a strong unit for a long time,” said Habimana.

The friendly match has been organized by FERWAFA to help the women national team to be in a competitive aspect ahead of future competitions.

On the other hand, DR Congo will use the game as part of their preparations for the upcoming African qualifiers for the Japan 2020 Olympics.

DR Congo will be using the tie to prepare for the upcoming preliminary round qualifier against Tanzania whose first leg is planned for April 5 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The DR Congo team is arriving in Rubavu District on Tuesday morning ahead of their afternoon tie then return back to their training base-Goma after the game.
