Former U-17 attacker, Barichisu made her first start for Pearlpia Ladies after a long injury layoff on Wednesday , scoring a goal and assisting as the Women’s Premier League side thrashed Anfani Ladies in a friendly.
Afishetu, Iddrisu Mariam (2), Rashida, Faiza Rashid, Shakira, Felicity were all on the scoresheet as Barichisu made a return after 13 months on the sidelines in their 8-0 drubbing of Anfani Ladies.
“We’ve always said we need players like her,” said Pearlpia head coach Baba Nuhu Mallam, who has been instrumental in her recovery. “It was her first competitive game since October 2020 when she got injured on National Duty and we are happy to see her back on the pitch.
“She’s an important player to us and so we don’t want to overwork her, is a gradual process for her recovery to full fitness but we are optimistic she will be ready for the season” .
The former Bagabaga Ladies graduate had an operation on a long-term injury last year and missed the entire 2020-21 campaign. She thankfully returned to action on Wednesday and made an instant impact, by scoring and assisting in the heavy victory.
Pearlpia Ladies are preparing for the 2021-22 Women’s Premier League season.
