In a bid to support the development of football across the country as stated in his manifesto, the Ghana Football Association President as part of his tour of the north has promised his administration will construct Mechanise Boreholes to support the development of football pitches in the Northern Region.

A day after unveiling the construction of an Astro Turf in the Upper East Region, the GFA President led a delegation to inspect the construction of game centres by the Northern Regional Football Association Chairman.

Speaking to the media, Mr Kurt Okraku said the FA will access the FIFA Forward 1.0 worth 280, 000 dollars to construct Mechanise Boreholes to help in putting game centres in good shape.

“We all know that there is a big gab in terms of the quality of pitches we have in the country, and for us to there is the need for attention to be given especially for Grassroot footballers, so the FIFA Forward 1.0 project will come to solve some of these problems” Kurt said.

Sports infrastructure plays a crucial role in achieving excellence in the global arena of sports. And It not only helps in producing sports persons of international repute, but also encourages the young population of a country to participate in sporting activities with the objective of creating a culturing of sports.

In the Northern Region, the standard of sports infrastructure is not at a satisfactory level for a number of reasons.
The lack of infrastructural facilities is one of the major constraints in the process of development of football in the North.
