After beating AshGold on Sunday to record a second consecutive win at home, Real Tamale United head coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko wants to make the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium a fortress as a reward to their “fantastic” fans.

RTU is yet to win away after two attempts in their return to the Ghana Premier League, but a strong home form was key to their success last season in the Division One League under Coach Tanko.

RTU started the season on a shaky note as they drew 1-1 against Great Olympics at home in the opening week of the 2020-21 season. However, of late, there have been improvements – as evidenced by the 2-0 wins over WAFA and AshGold respectively.

Speaking to the media after his second win at home, the former Hearts of Oak boss saids the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium will soon become a fortress and will be difficult for away teams.

“Our home factor is something that we want to improve,” coach Tanko told the media.

“It’s so important in the competitions, so we must improve at home. Every team is difficult to break down and we will work hard. We don’t live on desire, we live on action and work.

“Our fans are being fantastic with us. We count on them and we must give them moments of happiness and joy and excitement. It works both ways.”

The Pride of the North lost just once last season in the Division One League Zone 1 against City rivals, Tamale City enrout to their promotion to the Ghana Premier.
